THEARMORY
Crossway Chapel of Greeley Men’s Ministry
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you
will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything,
to stand firm.”
~ Ephesians 6:13
An armory is a place where the soldier’s
armor and battle equipment is kept, and soldiers must go there
to find the armor they
need to put on for the battle.
We want the Men’s Ministry at Crossway Chapel of Greeley to
be a spiritual armory…a ministry where we help each other prepare
for the battlefield. We want to create an environment that God can
use to make men into His disciples. God’s disciples are men…
• Who are called to walk with Jesus Christ
• Who are equipped to live like Christ
• And who are sent to work for Christ
We realize that each man is in a little
bit of a different spiritual place, but we want to help equip each
man to grow and mature spiritually…to
create an all-inclusive ministry that disciples men right where they
are at.
Two mornings per month, we will be gathering
as a large group together (all men in the church body are welcome).
This way, we can look around
and see who we’re going to battle with…and to be reminded
that we’re not fighting alone.
Two other mornings per month, we’d like for the men to meet
in smaller groups (of 3 to 5). This will allow each man to share
more of what he faces personally…and he can do this with a
smaller group of men that he trusts.
We’re in a spiritual battle, so let’s fight well…leaving
no man behind!
Going
Into Battle Together…
Leaving No Man Behind
Patrick
Morley got it right in his book “No Man Left Behind” when
he said that there are parallels between rocket science and being
a man:
Gravity – most
men shoulder the burden of working hard at their jobs, resisting
the temptations of a world
that wants to
drag them down, supporting a family financially, and trying to
be a good
husband and father.
Velocity – some men go like gangbusters, but others have a
hard time being enthusiastic about God…even those who have
been in church for a long time.
Angles
of Ascent – sometimes it seems like we’re steadily
moving forward, but other times it feels like we’re careening
back and forth in our spiritual journey.
Drag – Jobs, careers, relationships, temptations, and hobbies…all
of these things are hard to navigate through, and it seems like
they can hold us back from growing in our faith.
The Bible compares living for Christ
and growing in our faith to being in battle…that’s why the Apostle Paul told the
Ephesians to “put on the full armor of God.”
But the fact is, no one man can
do this by himself…men need
to go to battle together. And when they do, they should have each
others’ backs…no man should be left behind.
